In today's economy with the high cost of construction and the need to
utilize every inch of space, we are now finding transformers being installed
in very close proximity to occupied areas. This can cause problems due
to the inherent noise level of transformers due to "magnetostriction"
of the magnetic core. Transformers operating at 60 Hz. will produce a
low 120 Hz. hum, which in some installations may become a nuisance. Currently,
there is a NEMA standard for maximum sound levels for transformers based
on KVA; however, there are times, when even these standards are not adequate.
The LN Series of low noise transformers are designed to perform below
the sound level standards established by NEMA. Available in 3db and 5db
below families, in sizes from 30 through 225 KVA, the LN Series is the
perfect product for applications in noise sensitive environments such
as hospitals, schools, performing arts centers and other areas of general
assembly.
